Crafting the argument is the most important thing we do all term. We will practice our arguments by examining a variety of genre: essays, short stories, novel, drama, poetry, and film.
Your job is to connect the lessons of class to your writing- build on your five paragraph model- why not augment the introduction- add to your argument by offering refutation and validate your position by aligning all remarks to your claim (the "abstract noun" that is central to your response. Make your claim in the second paragraph-make sure it is arguable. Keep it referenced throughout your paper.
With the drama complete, expect to begin discussion and argument with our poetry unit: Introduction to great English poets. The unit will give you an opportunity to write analysis and argument about poems of your choice-take good notes: content, form, and style (explication video).
